Beetle #5 - Orange/Olive

Bugs/beetles were getting drawn and painted around here pretty often until I started thinking about how mom wanted to hang them in the new office and then I kinda freaked out about how I wanted them to be really good and then froze up completely. . . Didn't draw a bug for over a month. . .
Hate when that happens!!  Finally, tonight I just sat myself down, had a little pep-talk with myself and drew a new bug.  This one is courtesy of Vintage Printable (lots of dowloadable vintage images - be sure and check this site out) and is labeled on the page "Orange Bugs with Spots" - obviously this one is sans spots but perhaps it is a female??
In a completely different direction, here is my first attempt at a 3/4 face.  Needs work but is a step toward making more difficult faces.

  7. Your bug is gorgeous! I love the 3-D appearance. Sometimes it's not easy to get a bug to look rounded. As for the face, she's beautiful. I think I'll work more on faces this next year.

  10. The bug is so cool - love the color combo. I think you have done well with the face. I have tried different facial angles and they are difficult. Don't you hate it when your left brain kicks in and starts criticizing? I think you kicked LB's butt with your sweet beetle. Happy PPF

  15. The paper you are using for the bug does it have speckles in it? Can't wait to check out the site for vintage downloadables. I like the face, but why is it called 3/4?

  21. Hey Michelle - that bug is so freakin' cute I had to pop over and see what gives!!! Putting them on the wall - UGH! I can see//feel the freeze lol. But then I see the result of the thaw - it is amazing!!! You are SO God Blessed talented. I think your mom will be mighty proud to hang this creature of the "outside" on her (ew it is creeping me out) wall! lol lol It is a fantastic piece of art - maybe the "cabin?" haha (I know you get me!)
