Used some vintage ephemera on this girl to change things up a bit.
Vintage wallpaper, page from Gregg's shorthand book and an old book quote mix in with some stenciled and sprayed papers.
Started with a pencil sketch -
First layer of paint - I need to work on making girls that look a bit more happy -
Lots of shading and background color from Panpastels -they are so fast and easy to work with!

Your girl looks lovely, beautiful page. It's funny how I had that exact same sentiment after I created my last journal page... but you know what, it's about drawing and painting what you like or feel like doing, so, if a beautiful painting of a sad face makes you happy, well you at least made one happy face =), yours =)
ReplyDeleteFabulous!! HPPF!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is awesome! Wonderful expression!
ReplyDeletelove the process and how you have brought your girl into the vintage way. so creative and thoughtfilled. anything that is out of the box i feel is beyond artistic!!! lovies, samara
ReplyDeletevery interesting. the "happy face" comment - I have read it on 3 people's blogs today. I wonder if there is an ethereal downer going around not letting us feel good about just however we feel like doing our art? I think she is JUST LOVELY exactly the way she is...so be it!!!! she doesn't need to be happy - she just needs to be from your heart, my heart, whoever is painting and creating's heart. i can't get over how many times i've read this between Balzer, PPF and Artists in blogland today! Scarrrrry :(
ReplyDeleteloved seeing the process and that the lips were perfect in one hit... they are fabulous... well the whole thing is really, but the lips are a great focal point...xx
ReplyDeleteLove how you did her hair! And the quote is wonderful again!
ReplyDeleteYour ephemera girl is lovely! Love how you have added the bits and pieces of paper - adds a whole new dimension and a bit of the unexpected. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your process! She is so beautiful, gorgeous lips, yet I see a deep sadness behind her eyes! I am amazed with what she emotes... it's as though she is holding something back!!
ReplyDeleteI was trying to figure it out. The excellent brush strokes above the eye brows play into her emotions!! That and the eyes!! Really wonderful work!!
