So about a year and a half ago I painted a picture I called "Taking the Leap". It is propped up on a shelf in the dining room and for the past couple of months her mouth and nose have been bothering me - enough to where I started working on it last night to change things up a bit. I've never done anything like that before - messing with something that I had previously considered "finished".
Her original look is on the left - the reworked version is on the right. What do you think? Should I have left her alone or do you rework pictures that you aren't happy with?
Below is a glamour shot of our dog scratching while I was outside taking pictures - you are very welcome!

The right is more polished Michelle. Way to go. That must have been scary. You did amazing.
The nose on the revised image looks more realistic, and fabulously done. But, I kind of like the more stylized version (the before image) better. It's a more uniquely you style! As for the lips, I do like the revised version best - also more stylized. Either way, they are both wonderful.
I actually like both - redoing a "done" painting is a lot of fun :)
both are lovely, but I do like the one on the right. It has more depth of color!
I like both. I think you were brave.
the dog scratching made me laugh... and was a little distracting from your amazing canvas... love the whole thing...xx
No, you should definitely not have left her alone, she looks so much better now! Her face has much more character and depth and light. Way to go!
the white makes her look happier..great hair and autumnal looking
sometimes reworking is good. (I tend to OVERwork mine sometimes)!
love the dog picture. my dog is the same color. you'll have to post a more flattering view next time :)
The right one looks Great! The white frame looks cool for the picture :)
What a delightful painting. She looks like someone I'd like to get to know. You've caught something wonderful here.
Doggie photo bomb so adorable...I giggled!Hey if your girl wants plastic surgery you must adhere to her wishes! I think both are beautiful but the new version has more depth.... so I guess it's an improvement! Yes I have redone a few large canvases that I kept staring at...and I liked them much better! Thanks for sharing the before and after!
Hugs Giggles
oh Michelle, this is AMAZING!!! Bravo to you for daring to make changes. They are both beautiful, but i must say the one on the right holds more power, more depth, and i just LOVE the colours! that green with the gray & orange... omg. Just gorgeous. Are you sure you're not a interior designer? ;-) Love your art, more and more each time i visit here. xx
