To make the monograms I first stiffened small squares of fabric with some liquid Fabric Stiffener I picked up at Hobby Lobby and applied with a foam sponge on top of waxed paper. They were set aside to dry (took about 30-45 minutes) and in the meantime I cut my fabric and batting to 9" x 21" with my rotary cutter (first time I've used one of those too).
The Noteworthy Slice card had the font I was looking for -
The hands-free collar is awesome if you don't already have one! Can you tell that this fabric has already been cut?

Two adorable fabric monograms!
Stitch Witchery fusible webbing attached the monograms to my fabric. Next step was to zigzag stitch them on permanently. 
I found the inspiration for these cuties from the Craftaholics Anonymous blog - there are loads of great ideas on this blog!! My Janome mini sewing machine - a tiny but powerful machine for basic stitching - was a rockstar on this project.

How about an all white card?! I haven't done anything like this in a long time - I recently acquired the Slice Basics 2 card and was in the mood to cut out some flowers. After glittering them up, I layered them onto a base that was embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. The ribbon and sentiment are from A Muse. This card is based on Clean & Simple Stamping's FTL89. I stayed really neutral with this card with the browns and black. The flowers were cut with my Slice from the La Creme matstack. Stamped sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
I used my new Tim Holtz Mask and Antique Linen Distress ink applied with a Judikins Color Duster for the background. Then I antiqued the edge with the foam tool and Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. Makes a soft, elegant, aged background - kinda cool!
Quick post today - got lots of plates juggling in the air tonight! Kinda frazzled feeling - SIGH! This layout is from Clean & Simple Stamping's FTL86. I cut my flowers with my Slice and to get multiple sizes I ended up flipping the sketch to make a portrait oriented card instead of the landscape one on the sketch (artistic license, right? LOL). Let me tell you my new favorite thing - Making Memories Slice Hands Free Kit! I had preordered it a while back and got a chance to play with it yesterday! LOVE IT - I'd highly recommend getting it. Made things so quick and easy - that magnet is strong! Used lots of scraps to cut the flowers from - sentiment is from A Muse.
So today I am rushing around the house - cleaning, tidying, sweeping, dusting and thinking about how "frazzled" I am getting when I got a flash of brilliance. . . maybe it just was a flash of sweat but anyhoo - LOOK at my card! BTW - all unfinished cleaning of the house and laundry is the fault of my "flash of brilliance" and we all know how fleeting those can be - one simply has to grab them when they appear!!
Got out my Harbor Freight steel stamps and made good use of them stamping out these words. This sketch is from a current Moxie Fab Challenge to use Cath's favorite sketch from the new Papercrafts Go-To Sketches. I bought this book the other day and I told myself that I could only look at one chapter a day. The ride home was 45 minutes though so I looked at the whole thing! (I am not known for incredible restraint - LOL) If you don't have it yet you might want to rush out and buy it - there is SO much inspiration!!
Wish I could tell you where the "mom" stamp is from but it is an unknown (to me, anyway) unmounted red rubber stamp. I cut the quote bubble with my Slice and used Momento Dye Inks in Rhubarb Stalk and Pear Tart to do the stamping. What is making you frazzled today?
This card was made for the CPS Sketch 156 by Card Positioning Systems. I must have been under a rock for a long time to not have ever used one of their layouts!! The sketch calls for a tall, narrow card. I made mine 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" - that way even though the flourish goes past the card base it will still fit in a standard invitation envelope.
I decided to cut my flourish with my Slice - I can't wait for the new "hands free" collar to come out - I have one on order!!
An easy way to add glitter is to run your flourish through a Xyron. Mine is old - 250 Xyron - do they even make refills for that anymore? It is a good thing I still have one in my stash.
I dumped Martha Stewart Coarse Crystal Glitter all over it and then ran it through the Xyron again to attach it to the cardfront.
Doesn't that glitter look like sugar? I would lick it but that would be gross - I added some white lines above/below the black cardstock to soften the darkness. Looking back I wish I had made the solid cardstock a dark gray/charcoal rather than black.
This card is made from my most favorite patterned paper ever (Hannah's Story - Botanical by Cloud 9 Design) - I am hoarding my few remaining sheets but occasionally I pull a few out to play with. I took a pic from an above angle so you could enjoy this paper's beauty (none of my friends think it is as beautiful as I do). The Dandelion (2-4146E) is from A Muse and is embossed in white on the kraft cardstock.
Time for more papercrafting goodness with the new Blissful Papercrafting Kit. A simple gift can be so much more when you take a little time with the packaging. Recently I bought some soaps that smelled great but didn't look so great in their original packaging. I rewrapped them with waxed paper and then patterned paper but still something was missing - a custom box.
After measuring the needed dimensions for the box and using the ever handy Scor-Pal I decided that it would be good to cut an opening in the lid so you could see the prettily wrapped soaps. A Long Scallop Rectangle Nestabilities die made that a quick and easy task. The next step was to back the cut opening with clear acetate.
Another fun step was scalloping the edges of the box with an edge punch before assembling.
It is hard to hold slippery satin ribbon to tie a tight pretty bow, so a pair of locking hemostat pliers is a great tool to keep on hand! You can buy these online but here's a quick tip - these pliers are used by fly fishermen to tie their lures so if you have a sporting goods store nearby you can probably find them there.
Finished - I really like how the scallops are on the top and the sides of the box. Last step - a pretty tag to finish it off.
I used the new A Muse Monogram Frames Set for the sentiment, sponged the edges a little bit, scalloped the bottom and then finished with a pretty flourish that was cut with my Slice. (TIP - I cut the flourish out then sprayed some adhesive on the back, layered onto my tag and then cut the excess off).
Let's not waste the piece we cut with the Nestabilities die for the lid - it was the perfect size to back one of the scented tags included in the Blissful kit. WOW! This tag smells so good that it makes me want to eat a cookie (okay, fine - I ALWAYS want to eat a cookie!) The new A Muse Dill stamp (2-4163G) added a simple elegant touch to this quick tag.
Simply layer paper (more scallops) and a big Sentiment from A Muse (9-8616C BIG Thanks) on a kraft bag and you have a beautiful gift presentation. This paper is so pretty and timeless that you could make a gift like this ahead of time and save it for when you need a hostess gift or other small thanks.
The soldering stuff is from Simply Swank (available at Serendipity - hint, hint) and the beads, etc. are from my stash. The paper is from Basic Grey.
LOOK - it is reversible - I am so obnoxiously proud of this - I've never made a necklace from scratch before! I've made lots of soldered pendants but this is my first monogram one. Don't look too closely at the beading cause I'm definitely a novice at this!!
When you look close I backed the owl's beak and eyes with A Muse shimmer paper in Mango and Espresso and then enhanced his eyes with chocolate pearls. I thought that the owl was a little plain so I inked my Open Zinnia stamp with distress ink and stamped his belly. Gave a little subtle "faux feather" texture.
