Jellied Chicken Salad

Can't say that I've ever drawn a chicken before but I ran across these old recipe cards that I had stashed away in a drawer and couldn't resist.  How unappetizing does Jellied Chicken Salad sound - about as disgusting as it looks, huh?  Don't you love the snazzy strips of pimiento to dress it up?
I remember mom putting celery and carrots in fruit jello when we were kids but, thank heavens, she stopped before the jellied main course!!  My favorite part is the claim that it would be "perfect for a hot summer evening!"
I have a few more 1971 recipe cards stashed away - who knows what amazing treat I will reveal next!!

Oh Wow, I remember the carrots in the jello salad! Amazing - the trickery of the 60s and 70s. Love the chicken.

OMG, I love your chicken!! He's so cute. He makes me wish I had a cartooning gene. Alas, realism is my forte. That chicken is stunningly cuuuute though. Visiting from AEDM.

Laughing out loud! I remember these kinds of dishes when I was a new bride (for the 1st time - haha). You've done a great thing by painting over the recipe card and what a nice chicken you've achieved! Visiting from PPF#43. Have a great weekend. Can't wait to see what's cooking next week.

Your chicken is excellent. A great idea to use the recipe as a backing.
We recently welcomed a duckling into the family so you've given me an idea for a duck picture. Thanks so much.

Amazing chicken sketch on a not so amazing recipie! I love the colors you used - they seem so natural in contrast to the food photograph that came with the recipie!

the recipe sounds very un-appetizing!! especially the pimiento. Your chicken drawing has improved it 100%

It was all the rage way back when...eww...never ate it then... grated carrots in jello with other stuff was disgusting in my mind, but each holiday there it was someone made it!! Glad those days are gone!!

You made wonderful use of those cards with your adorable chicken!

Hugs Giggles
