WHOO HOO!  Another completed 29 Faces Challenge!  Making most of my girls ATC sized made all the difference on being able to complete all 29.  Be sure to click on the 29 Faces link and check out some of the amazing artists that participated in this challenge!  Thanks to Ayala Art for sponsoring - can't wait for September to try it again!

29 Faces - Coffee Hair

During the last 29 Faces challenge (September 2014) I painted several girls on backgrounds that I had made from coffee stains.  Often I painted directly from my coffee cup - this time I decided to use the coffee to paint a girl's hair.  I would paint some and then dry it with a heat tool and then add a bit more.
Ended up with a kind of tortoise shell look - cool for an ATC - not so much if it were real life.

29 Faces - Brush Pen girl

Tried drawing with a Pentel Brush pen - I hear great things about them but it was giving me fits - plus it wasn't as black as I had expected.  She turned out interesting though - kinda French looking to me.

29 Faces - Serendipitous

The Brusho from yesterday's girl soaked through the paper and added some fun interest to the other side of the book from today's girl - serendipitous!

29 Faces - Just tell me what you want done

Not sure where this creepy face came from - good thing it is only ATC sized - could you imagine how ugly the whole image would be??!!

29 Faces - 'tis strange to be wanting them now

The weight of her hair appears to be throwing her head off-kilter - probably about due for a visit to the chiropractor.

More Brusho fun. . .I seem to have sprinkled some of Kim's Brusho on lots and lots of my papers.

29 Faces - if what he wants is

"If what he wants is a girl that looks like a million dollars in a cheap way, with fancy clothes and hairdo,
well then, maybe I can show him what I've got."

29 Faces - Super Sandwich

True story - having two boys there has always been a lot of superhero talk in our house which would ultimately lead to one of them asking which Superhero was my favorite or which Superhero would I be - My usual answer was "Super Sandwich" or "Super Salad" (get it??  like on a lunch menu - "would you like soup or salad with that entree") which would make the boys roll their eyes when they were older and make them shout, "there is no such thing" when they were little.
When I found this old recipe card featuring more "Super Sandwiches" I just had to make my version of a superhero.  She is a mom superhero and spends her days running errands, taking care of her family, washing clothes, cooking dinner, etc. and therefore has resorted to wearing a comfy pullover sweater.  As a tribute to her superhero days she occasionally straps on her headgear when she needs a boost.
BTW - how gross looking is that sandwich on the card?  Looks a bit like it has already been chewed up and redeposited on the plate.  If that sandwich isn't to your liking perhaps you'd rather try the Peanut-Bacon-Pickle Sandwich.

29 Faces - I never realized before that

"I never realized before that ________."
How would you finish that caption??
This is Caleb shoveling the front walk - we got over 8" of snow today and more may fall tonight.  A real taste of winter now that it is nearly over!

29 Faces - 'tis to beg your counsel I am come

On Friday I got to go play with my good friend, Kim, at her studio and she introduced me to the most amazing new art supply - BRUSHO Colours from Colourcraft and Color Burst by Ken Oliver.
(I got inspired by the colors on this girl's robe)
They are teeny tiny color particles (powder) that mix with water to make amazing effects!  Just the tiniest amount bursts into fabulous color!!
I experimented on lots of little ATC backgrounds - here are some of my favorites!  I have got to get my hands on some of these for myself!!

29 Faces- Oh, Dear Diary

Time for a bit of catch up with the 29 Faces Challenge.
The main girl was colored with markers and then layers of doodled vellum and some stamping were added.

29 Faces - last minute things

Not sure why but this girl is my favorite of this month so far - her mouth is crooked but it makes me happy.  Watercolor and graphite.

29 Faces - what's happened to me

I've gotten a lot of comments on the little quotes that I've been using on these girls - This batch has snippets clipped from a 1965 book called The Year of Janie's Diary.  Poor Janie - she has serious issues with her weight and skin and all she wants is for Greg to notice her.  This book would be so non-PC these days but has yielded a plethora of great little quotes for me to mine for my own use!  Flea markets, Etsy and library sales are great sources to collect up some quirky books to cut up for your own art.

29 Faces - Day One

It is time for the 29 Faces challenge (sponsored by Ayala Art) again - It is always such fun but it can be tricky to find the time to fit all of them in.  I've decided to primarily do ACEO cards this go around since their small size is quicker to do.
