The Huns have taken over. . .

Have you used gouache much?  I see amazing work done with it but my limited exposure hadn't impressed me much.  However, a great deal on a Turner Acryl Gouache Set (V17678) from Jerry's Artarama caught my eye so I took a chance.
In all reality it was the set of 120 mixing cards that intrigued me the most - loved the idea of having an easy reference for color mixing.  I'm so happy with this purchase - love the creamy consistency of the paint and how matte and opaque the paint is - completely covers pencil marks like a charm!
The fabulous blue hair is courtesy of Ultramarine Blue Color Burst by Ken Oliver.  There are more colors coming soon - can't wait to play with them!

Your girl is absolutely amazing, Michelle. LOVE love the hair! I've never used gouache but also heard it's wonderful to use. I think I bought a set of watercolor gouache paints...yet to try them. lol :)

i used to use gouache before I switched to watercolor. it is so versatile. you can put in on thick when you want opaque or thin it out for more transparency.

maybe i should invest in a few colors. you've reminded me how much i enjoyed working with them.

Yes to the hair!:-) I have limited experience with gouache, but do remember that I was impressed with how well it reacted with salt! Much more defined textures than watercolor typically allows. Hope you keep loving it and whoing us such fun pieces:-)

I have been thinking about using gouache, but I don't like the fact that it's not waterproof, so I still didn't do it. Love your girl, she has such a sweet expression on her face.

I have not tried gouache much, although I have some. I use the white sometimes when I'm painting faces. I'm going to have to get it out and do some experimenting!

First I have to say your painting is lovely! and no I haven't really painted with gouache. It looks soft and smooth, I should give it a try one day.. Just lately I bought some pastel oil chalks I'm now trying out..
