Sick days . . .

I am sick - and have been sick since last weekend - I am tired of being sick!  The coughing is insistent and happens all hours of the day and night.  So much so that when I ask my family how their sleep was they each complain, "Pretty good but I heard you coughing all night." sigh. . .
As a consequence of the coughing, HALLS cough drops have become a constant companion to me.  I choose the sugar free ones because that way I can leave one in my mouth at night when I occasionally fall asleep and it won't cause trouble for my teeth.  When I wake up coughing, lo' and behold a cough drop is ready and waiting.
After the first cough filled night I was picking up the drop wrappers off the floor when I noticed some writing on them.  Look closer -
"A PEP TALK IN EVERY DROP"
"GET BACK IN THERE CHAMP"
"CONQUER TODAY"
"GET BACK IN THE GAME"
"TOUGH IS YOUR MIDDLE NAME"
While I am sure that is meant to be encouraging it mostly just ticked me off!  I already feel bad - why don't you tell me what I really need to hear -
"YOUR HUSBAND WILL MAKE THE BED TODAY"
"THE LAUNDRY WILL WAIT"
"HERE'S A HALL'S HUG"
"YOU WON'T BE JUDGED FOR EATING CAKE FOR BREAKFAST"
"SNEAK IN A NAP OR TWO"
"YOUR KIDS WILL ENJOY FORAGING FOR THEIR OWN DINNER"
Comments like these would encourage me on my road to wellness and not make me feel worse than I already do.  Rant over.

This is a fabulous piece. I loved your blog post too. It kicked my butt into signing up for AEDM. If you can do it being sick so can I! Thanks so much.

I'm so sorry you have a horrible cold. I had one in August and it wasn't any fun. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the wonderful messages on the cough drop wrappers. This a wonderful piece. Hang in there! Happy AEDM!

So sorry to hear you're not well! Hope that cough will be over real soon! At least it inspired you for your piece of art today. Love the combination!

ha ! you want your husband to make the bed! that's just precious!

everybody knows that beds don't get made when you're sick.
i love the tissue that your person is holding. he should be standing in a pile of them or Hall's wrappers. poor little thing!

I think that's a great idea to use the wrappers to make a background, and it looks so effective. Your little cough-drop man makes me smile, but I feel sorry for him if he is coughing too.
I feel for you when you say you are coughing all the time - your problem is perhaps a cold/cough, but at the moment I am in the same boat as you. I have asthma, and for some reason I have coughed violently and almost continuously for the past couple of weeks. So I hope your cough improves soon, and your post made me smile, so thank you!
