Inky Flowers. . .

There is a rule in decorating that says "every room can use a touch of black".  Black is a color that adds a focal point and a bit of sophistication.
I agree with that sentiment wholeheartedly.  My black pen collection is definitely in use each time I draw or paint.
I watercolored some flowers recently and while they were pretty to me -
after black was added the blooms became so much more vibrant.
Do you like to add a lot of black too?

When I learned to paint from my Dad - he always told me - a good painting is 1/6th black (or dark value) and 1/6th white (or light value) - all the rest should be midtones. And I really think he is right. I am always drawn to the paintings that have good contrasts. You achieve that with your black pen. Looks great!

Black has that special magic. Love the flowers.

Last night I was playing with a drawing my daughter did of Scooby Doo in digital paint and I was adding the black centres to the flowers on a letter, it amazed me how they just popped out of the painting.

Annabelle : ) Have a great weekend
