This is it!  The last day of the 29 Faces challenge and it has been so much fun!  With my busy life it can be a stretch to make that many faces in a month but my goal was accomplished and I look forward to September when Ayala Art will sponsor the next 29 Faces challenge.
From time to time I put some of my "girls" out on display but usually take them back down pretty quickly.  This time I framed my two favorites of the month and I don't think they will be leaving any time soon.
I adore the girl on the left ("Ticket Girl") with the two different sized eyes.  It is a good thing that I love her since I am, hands down, her ONLY fan in this household.  "Treasure Hunt" is a close second even though Caleb calls her, "Banana Head".
Oh well, ya can't please them all can ya?

29 FACES - Day 27 SKETCH

It was bound to happen - too many days and not enough time - today a sketch will have to suffice.  I started the Misty Mawn portrait class that began back in January - I still haven't watched all the videos from week one but those first lessons have us sketching faces in different directions which is new to me.  Not a halo around her head but a guideline circle.
She has a friend with her whose body proportions are WAY off but she counts as a second face since this month is about 29 faces in 28 days. . .
Look at my fabulous new necklace!!  Last week Dina Wakley showed a necklace that her friend Sue Altman made for her using pieces of Dina's new book.  I "hint hint-ed" to Corey that if he were to want to buy a little something for his dear wife that I would not object and he went for it!  I LOVE my new necklace - especially the fact that it is made from paper!!  Here's a close look at a similar one.

The farmer's wife would take whatever means were necessary to get Ann to stop daydreaming and get back to gathering eggs. . .
This girl does look as if she would live on the farm - notice all the cool entries around her in this vintage ledger that I've been using as an art journal. . .

After saving her stamps for years, she found it difficult to settle on what to acquire with them. . .
I can relate to this girl - I have points from our bank account that will expire soon and I go online and look at all the choices and invariably can't figure out what to get and log back out.  Whatever I get is free so what is the hangup with me??!!  I think I just need to cash them in on some Amazon gift cards and then I can stop staring at the bank's choices and start staring at the choices at Amazon!
Love the vintage Green Stamps - fun!  An old teabag makes the textural background for this girl.

29 FACES - Day 24 "PRINCESS"

"The princess sadly realized that she had wasted years of her life kissing frogs when she should have been concentrating on the local dairy providers."
The gorgeous background is handmade marbleized paper from Thailand that I picked up at Art Mart in St. Louis last month.  Metallic tape is from Martha Stewart and her crown is colored with metallic Sharpies.

29 FACES - Day 23 "WHISPER"

"If you are not willing to look stupid, nothing great is ever going to happen to you."
- Dr. Gregory House
These were the words that she whispered to herself as she entered the classroom, wishing as she often did that her mother had named her something besides Alice. . . or at least didn't feel compelled to dress her as Alice. . .

29 FACES - Day 22 "LONG BAGS"

"She didn't realize that her excursion would be so hard on her luggage."
This is my favorite of the "nature" inspired girls that I did after our recent walk.  In fact, this piece of bark was the first thing I found and was the entire reason I gathered the other things on our journey through the woods.

29 Faces - DAY 21 "FLORA"

She had hoped that her name would allow her to pose by a lovely flower but by the time she got to the head of the line all that was left was a dried out leaf. . .
Another girl on a piece of nature that I gathered on our walk.  After finishing I was bothered by a chunk of barky stuff sticking up behind her forehead.  Tried to squish it down and it punctured her head - SAY WHAT??!!!  The extra words are my attempt to salvage her from that dramatic injury. . . I kinda like the addition.

29 Faces - DAY 20 "VILLAGE BUM"

Truer words of wisdom had never been spoken by her hermit grandmother, the village bum.
Went on a walk in the woods with Caleb the other day and gathered up lots of fun little bits and pieces.  It was so cold that day that my "leaf gripping" fingers were purple by the time I hit the car but I managed to hang on to some great stuff!
The park we hike in most often has lots of suspended boardwalks and two swinging bridges.  It is a change to be cold in that park because usually we are dying of heat and being eaten by mosquitos when we walk there.  The park isn't nearly as pretty in the winter but still a great way to spend the afternoon with your nature loving boy!

29 Faces - Day 19 "SELF SUFFICIENT"

She was quite content to be alone - until she needed help moving the furniture.  Plus, she wasn't that fond of mowing the yard or taking out the trash.  In the end she decided that she could have beauty and her man - it was a good compromise. . .
Another day - another face. . .

29 Faces - Day 18 "PATRICIA"

Patricia had a fear of bottle rockets that dated back to her childhood.  Imagine her dismay when the evening ended with an unannounced display of fireworks. . .
ME (upon seeing bottle rocket label on table) - "WOW!  That is so cool!  Can I have it?"
CALEB - "Sure mom.  That's why I left it out - I thought maybe you could use it in one of your art projects."
That boy knows me too well!

Eva had heard great things about going green and decided to try it herself.  Unfortunately, she took the term literally. . .

29 Faces - Day 16 "FRANZISKA"

They wait for the chauffeur to arrive.  There were many choices for that evening's entertainment but they settled on The Vienna Royal Orchestra playing at Imperial Hall, a venue they had often enjoyed in the past.  Franziska touches up her lipstick, adorns her neck with heirloom pearls and pulls on her long evening gloves.
They were blessed to be living in Vienna - the one place that they could agree upon wholeheartedly.

29 Faces - Day 14 "ISA"

Origin:  German
Meaning:  Strong-willed
She looks like a tough, take charge kind of girl, doesn't she?
HUSBAND - "It is a shame that someone is trying to shoot her."
ME - "What are you talking about?!!"
HUSBAND - "Looks like a rifle sight is aimed at her face."
ME - "Ewww.  I thought it would be cool to leave the drawing lines on her face."
HUSBAND - "Ya, sure.  Whatever you say. . ."
